Dual Energy X-Ray Line Scanner, including custom Monoblock X-Ray Generator, Quantum Magnetics, Inc.

JAMCO designed an innovative X-ray line scanner for use with a Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (NQR) spectrometer. The scanner featured minimal use of magnetically reactive metals, advanced EMI shielding, and a highly integrated structure. Key innovations included a carbon fiber collimator, dual energy detector, and a compact, efficient ‘monoblock’ X-ray generator capable of 160kV at 2.2m.

Dual Energy X-Ray Line Scanner, including custom Monoblock X-Ray Generator, Quantum Magnetics, Inc.
JAMCO produced the mechanical design of an X-ray line scanner for integration with a NQR (Nuclear Quadropole) Spectrometer. This line scanner incorporated numerous innovations to complement the special requirements of the NQR spectrometer such as near absence of magnetically reactive metals, high-efficiency EMI shielding, and highly integrated structural design. Notable features include the economical production design, a unique carbon fiber supported collimator, a cassette-style dual energy detector, and a unique integrated X-ray generator design. This generator was a ‘monoblock’ type configuration containing the tube insert, twin multiplier stacks, integrated oil circulation and heat-exchanger system in a compact unit capable of 160kV @ 2.2m.
